Anomalia is a virtual reality game in which the player collects lost fruit-like creatures scattered across a VR world and returns them to a castle. According to the story, the castle has captured Anomalia’s sun as revenge for the disappearance of these creatures, leaving the world in darkness. As the creatures are returned, light gradually comes back to the world.
The purpose of the game was to explore how 3D environments and VR-designed objects can be used in a VR piece and how they can create new forms of experientiality in 3D art. The visual design and narrative of the game were created by Maisa Immonen. Markku Laskujärvi contributed as a technical assistant and also participated in developing the visual style and story. The project was completed as the final assignment for the Embodied Interaction course at Aalto University.
